When Softmedia incorporated and started doing business in 1994, the internet was a new thing. In the late 90's, we decided to put up a simple website. At the time, softmedia.com was taken by a French Company that was doing something with TV and video software. So we added the "inc" to the name. Simple enough! No confusion at all about what each company did. Life was grand...
Today...
Well, like everything else in life comparing today to 1994, life is not that simple... Try doing a search on "softmedia" in a search engine of your choice... and watch what unfolds. First, a search engine might think you meant Softpedia, an encyclopedia of free downloads appear. OK, not ideal but nobody should confuse us with them. We should be ok right? Well...
Scroll thru the list and you come up with all the sites and companies that have Softmedia as part or all of their name. They are NOT associated with us. Some include:
